What is the Door of Opportunity Scholarship?
Following recent events and the subsequent conversations around racial inequality in our society, the leaders of Esler Companies wanted to find a way to bridge a divide. Providing an opportunity to create a lasting impact on underrepresented young adults in the Esler Cos communities was one such bridge. The result was the Door of Opportunity Scholarship Fund, a program that provides financial resources to help its scholars continue their education beyond high school, thus giving them tools to reach their full potential and influence generations to come. Esler Companies partnered with The George Snow Scholarship Fund to make the Door of Opportunity a reality.

Advanced education comes in many forms and becomes a life-changing opportunity for those with the dedication to pursue it. Recipients of the Door of Opportunity Scholarship are selected based on qualities like self-reliance, positivity, and passion for making a difference. Scholarships are awarded not only for 2–4-year college programs, but also for any path leading to employment and furthering education past high school. There is no minimum GPA requirement. Students must simply be a high school senior from a qualifying region with financial need.

The participation and excitement around this program among Esler Cos teammates have been contagious. Teammates are involved in each step of the process from application review to interviewing the finalists to selecting which candidates will become recipients of the Door of Opportunity Scholarship. Feedback from employees is that the impact these young candidates have had on each of us has been profound and the insight gained along the way immeasurable. The experience has been life-changing for so many. Teammate Mary Kay Murphy said,

We are proud to support students who demonstrate a commitment to their education and a drive to succeed. Impact
In the 5 years since its inception, the Door of Opportunity program has awarded over $5 million in scholarship funds to 404 deserving students.
This year, the program saw its first class of students graduate, with 22 students joining the workforce and even some moving on to graduate programs.
The Door of Opportunity Scholarship greatly enriched my college experience by allowing me to focus my energy and resources on pursuing opportunities that supported both my personal growth and career development. As a first-generation college student, I am deeply aware of the privilege this scholarship represents. How the Scholarship Works & Encouraging Student Success
We partner with the George Snow Foundation and local high schools in our service areas to create awareness around the Door of Opportunity Scholarship.
Applications for the Door of Opportunity Scholarship are accepted from November to February each year. There is no minimum GPA requirement. Students are required to be a high school senior from a qualifying region with financial need. They can attend any accredited college, university, technical or vocational school.
